Tonya of The Traveling Praters
I’ve been homeschooling my three teenagers for the past 12 years. Though I should be pretty confident at this point, our homeschool is always changing and determining what works best for each child, each year is a constant challenge. I often joke with my husband that by the time our children have all graduated I’ll finally have it all together and we’ll have to adopt so I can homeschool “the right way”. *smile* Though I love homeschooling, I’m passionate about traveling and experiencing new adventures as a family and feel blessed to have been able to work our love of travel into our studies. In addition to my own blog, I also write for The Homeschool Classroom and The Homeschool Blogger Company Front Porch.

Why do you homeschool?
I homeschool for many reasons. Initially it was simply something that my husband and I had felt ‘the Lord led us to do’ and though we still feel that way, I’ve been amazed at the adventures and blessings that we’ve been able to have as a result. We have been able to travel with my husband, my children have been able to learn at their own pace- without the pressure ‘of keeping up’, we’ve been able to teach according to our own beliefs and convictions- those are just some of the benefits of homeschooling. I also love to be with my children. I couldn’t imagine how different our lives would be if they were in a more traditional school setting.

Do You Have A Home Business?
I’m preparing to launch an Etsy shop (Wear the Adventure) later this week which will feature one-of-a-kind smashed penny jewelry, inspired by many of the road trips that we’ve taken as a family.

Why do you blog?
For over five years, my children and I traveled with my husband for his job so initially I began blogging to keep everyone ‘at home’ up to date on our whereabouts. My blog really began to get more attention when we became a full-time RV family. Though our hope had been to travel for several more years, last July we settled back down into a ‘stick’ home. We still try to travel as often as we can. The kids and I take field trips regularly, and I blog about upcoming homeschool days, discounts that apply to homeschool families and whatever else we’re up to at the time. I pretty much blog daily.
