Most parents know that a child who only memorizes math facts without really understanding math will find progressively complex concepts more and more difficult to understand. But what they erroneously think is that such problems arise about the time a child is memorizing the multiplication table. Not so. Unlike reading, an integral skill that is tightly woven throughout our entire day, math tends to be a more sporadic subject, essential when you need it and then easily set aside. I was impressed by a review from one of your bloggers of the Mathematical Reasoning B textbook. I purchased the book and am currently using it with my creative learner kindergartener. He really enjoys it and will often do extra pages. It can be a bit challenging, as it is geared for 1st grade, but having finished his current textbook, I decided to give it a go. I am glad I did. He is really learning a lot. Timberdoodle really put me on to the importance of developing thinking skills. I am so glad to have discovered this early on. I now know to make it a key part of our daily learning.
